How to Prepare an Image for AI Translation

September 13, 2026 · 8 min read

Translation quality begins before upload. A sharp source, readable lettering and verified copy give both the translation and visual reconstruction a clearer task than a compressed screenshot or an image with uncertain claims.

What does image-translation preparation include?

Preparation means selecting the best source, confirming permission, identifying the intended target language and checking every visible phrase that must remain accurate. It also means removing private information that should not enter the workflow.

Who should prepare the source?

Content owners, ecommerce managers, localization coordinators and designers should agree on the approved asset and terminology before generation. A target-language reviewer should be identified before the localized image is published.

How should you prepare the image?

  1. Use the largest clean JPG, PNG or WebP available, within the tool's 10 MB limit.
  2. Avoid an extra screenshot, crop or recompression when the original export exists.
  3. Confirm product names, prices, dates, measurements and required claims.
  4. Remove customer details, account data and other sensitive information.
  5. Keep an untouched source and record the one target language required for this generation.

How is this different from redesigning the source?

Preparation improves the input but does not create editable layers or guarantee an exact font. If the original Figma, PSD or vector file exists and exact production typography is required, localize that source instead. AI image translation is most useful when the finished raster asset is the practical input.

What should you do next?

Upload one approved source to the image translation tool, choose Fast for simple clear text or Quality for smaller text and complex design, then compare the result with the untouched original.
